Shoulder Fired Rail Weapon by ProlificPen Shoulder Fired Rail Weapon by ProlificPen
Another gun commission for Chop studio. This is going to be used for an FPS, or a TPS game I think.

They gave me complete creative freedom on this one, always appreciated.

This concept is a shoulder mounted rail weapon. It is held and fired similar to a bazooka or stinger missile. The circular structure in the center is a micro-fusion battery, the cans on top are for cooling the barrel. The slugs are mounted into paramagnetic sabots and loaded from the back. The circular pin in the back serves as the housing for a recoil absorbing mechanism. The fore grip and trigger can slide and lock into place along the bottom rail depending on the soldiers arm length.

It need to weigh more in the front and you should make a magazine for the canisters. Other than that I would just say that the gun should have an area to put your shoulder more comfortably so there is more support when the gunman is firing the weapon. That is pretty much all I have to say to it but it looks pretty awesome.

It is very beautiful...but, sorry for that, it looks funny (because the back part looks much heavier than forwrd. Rail gun has big recoil, so the gunner will be blown backward)! It looks realistic, but if imagine it in use...

well, I was thinking the slug would be a heavy material and engineered for velocity and penetration. It would need a magnetic sabot casing though for the rail to be able to launch it. Thanks for the complement!

cool design, great photoshop detailing. the canisters tho, always reminded me of plasma guns i see. in sifi they usually utilize a rail system and canister setup.

A fantastic design. I think one of my favorite details is the adjustable forward grip and trigger mechanism, as i can see an operator picking it up and sliding it to his liking just before deploying it (sort of a lock 'n load gesture).

Now, i know you said the slug sabots are loaded in from the back, but where exactly? Is it that bit above the fusion battery that looks like a bolt slide?

thanks!

The slugs are loaded into the back, that pin pops out after firing. Then a new round is loaded and the pin pushed back in. Sort of like a small artillery piece.

Hmm... i think i can see it's action in my mind, but now that i think about it, the pin seems a bit slender. Or maybe there isn't enough furniture or bulk to this particular detail?

Actually, I believe i figure out the problem. If the pin pops back when its fired, wouldn't the inertia and recoil of the weapon still be carried out the back if the pin just stops in place? Maybe if there was more of a piston, spring, or pneumatic cylinder rather then a pin or bolt, it would suggest what you're trying to suggest it features. You're already doing that with the rail, the adjustable grip, and the coolant canisters in the back, so why not go all the way?

wouldn't that be very awkward, as opposed to a breech loading "door" in the left side? Artillery pieces need to eject massive spent cases, and have their operators at the rear, neither of which is true of this.

Regardless, it's a beautiful design. Is there any chance you'd allow me to build this one in PMG? Rest assured I won't without permission.

No more awkward than reloading other large shoulder fired weapons, like rpgs, or javelin rockets I guess.

Thanks for the complement. Unfortunately, this design is bought and paid for by Chop studio, and they have exclusive rights to the design. I can not really give you permission to use it.
